Raja Teh Maimunah has been appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bank Islam Malaysia, marking another significant milestone in a career that has consistently shaped the evolution of Malaysia’s banking and financial services industry.

Widely recognised for her expertise in banking leadership, digital transformation, corporate governance, and Islamic finance, Raja Teh brings decades of executive experience to one of Malaysia’s leading Islamic financial institutions. Her appointment reflects a proven track record of delivering strategic growth, leading organisational transformation, and driving innovation across both conventional and Islamic banking.

Before joining Bank Islam Malaysia, Raja Teh served as the Chief Executive Officer of AEON Bank, where she led Malaysia’s first Islamic digital bank. Under her leadership, AEON Bank strengthened its position within the country’s rapidly growing digital financial ecosystem by introducing innovative, customer-focused banking solutions while advancing financial inclusion through technology.

Before AEON Bank, she held several senior leadership positions within AmBank Group, including Managing Director of Wholesale Banking and Chief Executive Officer of AmInvestment Bank Berhad. Throughout her tenure, she played an instrumental role in strengthening corporate and investment banking capabilities, enhancing client relationships, and contributing to the group’s overall business performance.

Beyond executive leadership, Raja Teh has also made meaningful contributions to Malaysia’s financial governance landscape. She served as a Public Interest Director and Independent Non-Executive Director at Bursa Malaysia, helping promote transparency, governance, and the sustainable development of the nation’s capital market. She also served as an Independent Non-Executive Director at KWAP Malaysia, contributing her expertise to one of the country’s largest public sector pension funds.
