Ir. Ts. Noor Azman Bin Alias marks more than 24 years of engineering excellence, building a distinguished career across high-voltage power systems, utility operations, energy infrastructure and, more recently, hyperscale data centres. His professional journey reflects the evolution of critical infrastructure in Malaysia and the importance of technical expertise, operational leadership and continuous professional development.
Noor Azman began his engineering career with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in 2002, where he developed extensive expertise in electrical protection, commissioning, high-voltage switching, system restoration, operations and fault investigation. Over more than 21 years with TNB, he participated in over 500 high-voltage switching operations, covering systems from 11kV to 500kV, as well as more than 18 major commissioning assignments involving 132kV to 500kV infrastructure.
His experience at TNB eventually expanded beyond technical responsibilities into organisational leadership. As State Manager in Melaka, Noor Azman led a maintenance organisation of more than 150 personnel, strengthening his capabilities in people management, operational governance, stakeholder engagement and performance management. He subsequently served as Principal Engineer, Grid Maintenance South, supporting the reliability and operation of transmission infrastructure across southern Peninsular Malaysia.
A significant aspect of his career has also been the development of engineering talent. Noor Azman trained and assessed more than 50 technicians and engineers in protection competency up to 500kV, supported more than 30 personnel in achieving Authorised Person status, and guided engineers towards professional recognition.
His commitment to innovation was further demonstrated through an air-conditioning lifecycle optimisation initiative under the TNB Grid Academy programme, which generated approximately RM1.8 million in realised annual savings and reduced total cost of ownership by more than 20%.
Following his tenure with TNB, Noor Azman expanded his experience into energy and infrastructure development with Worldwide Holdings and Worldwide Power Services, contributing to major interconnection and transmission projects generating more than RM300 million in project revenue.
In 2025, he entered the rapidly growing hyperscale data centre sector with AirTrunk Malaysia, where he now serves as Specialist (Critical Environment – Electrical) & Resident Competent Engineer (RCE).
