His career journey reflects a strong commitment to strengthening model risk governance, enhancing risk management practices, and advancing climate risk capabilities within Malaysia’s banking sector.
Throughout his career at Bank Rakyat Malaysia, Muhammad Saifullah has contributed to strengthening the bank’s risk management capabilities through his expertise in credit risk modelling, IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) models, credit scoring models, model governance, and independent model validation. His work has supported stronger risk decision-making through robust model assessment, governance practices, and analytical insights.
In his current role within Model Validation & Climate Risk, he is responsible for the independent validation and governance of risk models, including IFRS 9 ECL models and credit scorecard models. He also contributes to climate risk initiatives, including the development and implementation of climate risk frameworks and methodologies aligned with Bank Negara Malaysia’s Climate Risk Management and Scenario Analysis (CRMSA) and Climate Risk Stress Test (CRST) requirements.
Before joining Bank Rakyat Malaysia, Muhammad Saifullah gained valuable experience at AFFIN Group through a structured Management Trainee Programme, where he received broad exposure to various banking functions and developed his leadership and banking capabilities. During his tenure with AFFIN Group, he was involved in strategic transformation initiatives and contributed to key initiatives, including the SME financing transformation programme that supported the bank’s growth agenda.
He began his professional journey at Malaysia Airlines within the Credit Risk function, building his foundation in credit risk.
